Paul de Holczer was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1994. He’s a member of the South Carolina Bar Government Law Section and the Real Estate Practices Section, Eminent Domain Subcommittee, the American Bar Association, Litigation Section, Committee on Condemnation, Zoning & Land Use Litigation, and the Richland County Bar Association. He received his education at Presbyterian College (B.A.), Central College (London Program); University of South Carolina (M.A.; J.D.), and Corvinus University of Budapest (Summer Program).
After Law School he was Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Frank P. McGowan, Jr., South Carolina Circuit Court, and Assistant Chief Counsel, South Carolina Department of Transportation. He was Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Attorney of the Year in 2001.
Paul serves on the Board of Trustees and has served as chair of the Board of Visitors of Thornwell Home for Children, a joyful Christian community that offers hope and wholeness to children and families. He is also a member of the Columbia Film Society and the South Carolina Military History Club.
Paul has lectured on eminent domain and condemnation law for the South Carolina Bar, the University of South Carolina School of Law, the International Right of Way Association (Carolinas Chapter), and for several professional education firms. He authored the South Carolina chapter for The Law and Procedure of Eminent Domain in the 50 States published online by the American Bar Association, Litigation Section, Committee on Condemnation, Zoning & Land Use Litigation. One of his more recent reported cases is South Carolina Department of Transportation v. Hood, 381 S.C. 318, 672 S.E.2d 595 (Ct. App. 2009).
